Here is my first Poetry exercise, I hope you enjoy!

Today I took a break from my novel to refresh my mind with other projects. One of the exercises I did was a poem I wrote. I hope you enjoy.

I awoke to fresh images

Of my mind’s stubborn attempt at

Creating her again for me

But mine’s a mind and nothing more

Those false and fickle images

Never ring true absolutely

Her golden hair is there, but wrong

Here eyes are a poor estimate

And mean, and mean, you’re never mean

Your shadow is darker than you

I recall your laugh as well as

I recall your drunken demon

And so you are to me a new

A caricature, not what I knew

And while the years of tears and fear

Dilute your memory, I will live on

Thank you for reading!

Cheers,

Caleb
